In 1963, Orlo and Bernice Dukerschein sold their dairy operation in the small town of Glen Flora, Wisconsin, and became pioneers in a new industry called screen-printing. Although the industry was in its infancy, the Dukerscheins knew early on where they wanted their new company to go, and what they wanted to achieve. Their first production team was made up of eight people – themselves and their six children. Early products included t-shirts, sweatshirts, ribbons, buttons, emblems, decals, bumper stickers, banners and cow boards.

As their knowledge of the industry and target market developed, the focus of their product line became sportswear. With state-of-the-art equipment, Artisans produced a broad range of products, including fashion apparel, t-shirts, sweatshirts, jackets, caps, racing bibs, banners, emblems, decals and signs, all featuring high-quality screen printing and embroidery.

The family business expanded significantly over the years. What started as a small dairy building in the 1960’s grew into a 100,000-square-foot facility. Today, CEO Gordon Dukerschein and his wife, Bev, are dedicated to the future, their corporate vision and product development.

True to its name, Artisans only employs skilled craftsmen and women. They take pride in their innovative, high-quality products. They are able to quickly respond to market trends and provide unique garments and artistic designs. Their staff of in-house artists study the marketplace to provide consumers with exclusive nature, Western, outdoor sports, floral, contemporary and nautical designs.

Artisans currently supplies the souvenir and retail markets, mail order catalogs, commercial accounts, schools, special events and more. Representatives and dealers are located all across the United States, coast to coast. Over the years, Artisans' goals have not changed. Artisans has been producing unique apparel for the resort, souvenir, Western wear, outdoor sports, gift and boutique retail channels for over 40 years. Our in-house merchandising, design and art staff are constantly focused on new development and always prepared to meet market demand with fashionable, fresh creations.

For larger retail customers we also offer a private label program. Two full-color retail catalogs are created every year, featuring our Spring & Summer and Fall & Winter lines. Our artists create one-of-a-kind designs that are utilized in our knit-in and allover garments. We also specialize in a variety of embroidered crests and full-front designs that span a wide range of subjects and art styles.
