| Artisans
is a family owned and operated organization, yet is by no means a small
company. Artisans has a history of creating innovative products made
with the latest technologies and techniques. Now in their 44th year in
business, Artisans continues to delight and inspire their customers by
providing unique, high-quality clothing to those who demand the best. |
| |
| 1963 |
Orlo
and Bernice Dukerschein sold their dairy operation in the small town of
Glen Flora, Wisconsin, and became pioneers in a new industry called
screen printing. Their first production team was made up of eight
people – themselves and their six children. Early products included
t-shirts, sweatshirts, ribbons, buttons, emblems, decals, bumper
stickers, banners and cow boards. |
| |
| 1974 |
Gordie
Dukerschein, the youngest child of Orlo and Bernice, joined the
business. That same year, Artisans relocated from the converted dairy
building into a new 5,000 square foot building. Gordie’s wife, Bev, and
brother Larry joined the company shortly thereafter. As their knowledge
of the industry and target market developed, the focus of their product
line became sportswear. |

| 1977 |
The first building addition was built, with more additions following about every two years. |
| |
| 1989 |
Artisans expanded their production capabilities to include an on-site cut and sew operation. |
| |
| 1991 |
Having
outgrown their facility on the family property, Artisans built a 50,000
square foot production facility in the Glen Flora Industrial Park in
1991, then added 50,000 square feet in 1994 and another 50,000 in 2000
to bring the total building square footage to 150,000. |
| |
| 2002 |
Artisans began to utilize off shore development to continue to provide their quality products at a competitive price. |
| |
| 2004 |
Artisans
became among the first in the industry to acquire a digital garment
printer, a machine capable of unique placements and customization. |
| |
| 2005 |
Artisans
continued to remain an industry leader by adding a laser machine with
the capability to cut into fabric with great precision and attach
once-difficult layered appliqués and embroideries. |
| |
| 2007 |
Artisans
became the apparel licensee for Ducks Unlimited, the world’s largest
and most effective wetland and waterfowl conservation organization. |
